Twelve students from Sheboygan County Christian High School have decided to spend their first Discovery Term serving in Atlanta, GA. The team, led by Chris and Kim Hendrikse, will be working with a ministry known as 7 Bridges to Recovery / A Rescue Team For Jesus. In addition to spending time with the women and children that live onsite, the team will be packing several hundred lunches and heading out onto the city streets to deliver food and the gospel to those in need.

Sunday, January 4: Worship at the Garden and fellowship at the Windsors

Okay, I'll start off with last night. After we went around yesterday handing out lunches to the homeless people under bridges and at parking lots, we hit up Starbucks for some late night fellowship and blogging. Than this morning, to prepare for the sunday morning worship service, we moved all of our luggage and air mattresses. The service by Pastor 7 was one of the most meaningful and inspirational services I was in. We sang some new songs, but also some songs that I took to a deeper level such as "We Believe." I love the worship style that the church has, everyone seems so involved in the Word. People will dance around throughout the church, or they'll be throwing their hands about totally focused on God and God alone. Today's service is one of the reasons I am extremely thankful I was able to come on this trip. Another reason was tonight we were able to visit the Windsor's. We headed to their house and arrived around two. As Mr. Windsor started grilling up some amazing food, some of us kids played soccer, tag, and even some of the guys jumped into the pool. I, specifically was quite exhausted and ready for supper after chasing David around for about easily an hour. Apparently "elevators" (the stairs) would lock just as I was about to reach him. Conveniently allowing him go get away. But hanging out with all of them was a blast and the supper was fantastic. I was extremely grateful that they allowed us to take showers while we were there. So this has been quite a great night!!

Okay hey this is Naomi! so this whole week has been super awesome and amazing.  I am reminded like 1000 times a day of just how truly blessed I am by what God has given me and by all these humble people. I went into this trip thinking I would be serving and blessing others, but a lot of the time these wonderful people are blessing me, and showing me example after example of the true joy only God can give.  Two specific little girls have found a special place in my heart during this week.  They are Mia and Asia, they're sisters, and beyond precious.  Last night I got the opportunity to have them both to myself when their mom needed a break.  They asked me if I had any sisters and when I said no, they offered to be my sisters, and obviously I said yes. :) This morning I sat with them again after breakfast and Asia had lipgloss. She decided I needed some too and she proceeded to put it on my lips, and chin, and all under my nose.  Then of course she needed some of her own, and it ended up on her eye lids, cheeks, and nose.  She's totally going to be a beautician. ;) I also got to spend the amazing and super cool church service with a little boy named Kevin on my lap, who continually asks what my name is.  He spent the service drawing chubby ninjas. They were divine! Not only do these children and their contagious joyfulness inspire me, but the women that I have spoken to as well.  They are so positive in their situation, and never once forget to give God the glory in every situation.  I can honestly say I am jealous of their peace and joy, as well as Kevin's ninja drawing skills. ;)
